Sing for your Supper

Sing for Your Supper is a relaxed, social music night built around shared singing, great food, and live music — the kind of evening you didn’t know you were missing until you try it.

Each event begins with gentle vocal warm-ups and we learn a song together as a group, with simple two - or three-part harmony — no solos, no pressure, no experience needed.

As supper is served, our guest local musician provides live entertainment, creating a warm, intimate atmosphere where you can chat, listen, and enjoy being part of something musical..

After eating, the evening flows into our relaxed group sing-along with live accompaniment. When you book, you’ll choose a song that fits the theme of the night — all song choices go into the hat and are drawn on the night for us to sing together.

This is about connection, community, and joy — voices around a table, music in the room, and food on the way.

FAQs

What actually is Sing For Your Supper?

It’s a relaxed, feel-good evening of group singing, food, drink and connection in a village pub. We warm up together, learn a song (in harmony if you fancy it), eat a delicious supper, then enjoy a big group sing-along led by a live local musician. No pressure, no performing — just singing for the joy of it.

Do I need to be able to sing?
Absolutely not. This is for everyone. If you enjoy music, singing in the car, or humming along to the radio — you’re perfect for this.

Is it a choir?
Nope. There’s no commitment, no weekly rehearsals, no pressure to “sound good”. Just turn up, sing, eat, laugh, repeat.

Is it karaoke or an open mic?
Definitely not. No solo singing, no being put on the spot, no microphones being thrust into your hand. We sing together as a group.

Will I have to sing on my own?
Never. Everything is group singing. Always.

What happens during the evening?

  • 6:30pm – Doors open, grab a drink, get settled

What kind of songs will we sing?
Songs you know and love. When you book, you’ll suggest a song within the evening’s theme. On the night, songs are drawn from the hat — simple, fun, and familiar.

Do I need to read music?
Nope. No sheet music, no theory, no stress.

Yes — and you won’t feel awkward, promise. This is a lovely way to meet new people in a relaxed, welcoming space.

  • Anyone who wants connection, community, food and music

  • Friends, couples, or solo attendees

How often does this run?
Monthly — on the first Tuesday of the month at our local pub - The Chequers, Barley.

Will this be the same every time?
The structure stays the same, but the songs, themes, people and guest musicians keep it fresh — no two evenings will be quite the same.

Talena Cuthbert

"These nights mean so much to me. Creating spaces where people can gather, share food and sing together is at the heart of my work. Singing supports our physical and mental wellbeing — it helps us breathe, release tension and feel connected. With over 20 years as a vocal coach and a professional singing career, including releasing music with my band Gone Til Winter, I’ve witnessed the impact of singing in community again and again. Sing for Your Supper isn’t about being a pro — it’s about fun, food, voices and belonging. If that sounds like something you’d love to be part of, I’d be so happy to welcome you."
