We provide instruction for 34 weeks each academic year and make-ups and exams in  designated make-up weeks at the end/beginning of each half term.

Below is our calendar showing teaching weeks, make-up weeks and holidays.

Please note that our schedule may not coincide with school holidays.

Why 34 Lessons? A Little Insight Into Our Thinking

from Talena

I wanted to share a little of the thinking behind our new 34-lesson tuition plans.

When people see that we don't teach every possible week of the year, they sometimes wonder why.

The answer is that Layston Music has never wanted to become a business that's simply focused on filling every available slot. Paul and I started Layston Music because we love music, teaching and, most importantly, the relationships we build with every student and family.

Every lesson is taught by one of us.

We don't use cover teachers during holidays because we believe the trust and connection built over months and years is one of the biggest reasons our students thrive.

To continue giving every lesson our best, we also need time to recharge, spend time with our own family and return ready to give each student the attention and enthusiasm they deserve.

We know the summer holidays are a little longer, so we've introduced an optional Summer Lesson Week during the middle of the break. If you'd like an extra lesson to keep your technique fresh and maintain your momentum, you'll be able to book one.

It's completely optional and sits outside your annual lesson allocation—many students will enjoy having the full break, while others may like a musical check-in before September.

Thank you for supporting our little family business.

Your support means we can continue teaching in a way that values people, community and quality over quantity, and we're incredibly grateful to have such a wonderful music community around us.
